June Board of Governors Meeting

The American College of Healthcare Executives and the Foundation of the American College of Healthcare Executives held its Board of Governors meetings June 26–28. The following are highlights of the meetings.

Financials Approved
The Board reviewed and approved financial statements for the current period and also accepted ACHE’s and the Foundation of ACHE’s 2021 financial audit. ACHE received an unmodified (clean) audit opinion with no management concerns reported.

The Board also received and discussed the 2022 forecast and was provided an update on operational priorities. The Board accepted the 2022 forecasted year-end financials with no changes to the current 2022 operating budget. Additionally, the Board approved the 2023 dues pricing with no changes and the recommendation to retain ACHE’s investment advisory and asset management firm.

Progress Reported on the 2022–2024 Strategic Plan
The Board reviewed progress on plans related to the following strategic priorities:

In our role as a Catalyst, ACHE will commit to leading for equity and safety, and, as a thought leader, champion solutions in these two critical priorities. As such, we will leverage organizational partnerships, including chapters, to drive DEI efforts; create essential resources for leaders to advance the creation of diverse, equitable and inclusive environments; and grow the number of diverse member leaders. This effort will involve continuous quality improvements that drive the success of core operations, programs and services; targeted opportunities, typically prioritized from ongoing areas of focus, designed to expand reach and impact; and meaningful investments in new areas that will yield significant return on investment or mission and position the organization for future success.

In our role as Connectors, ACHE will commit to growing our professional community across the healthcare continuum by leveraging our partnerships with chapters and other organizations. In doing so ACHE will identify new ways to enhance the ACHE-chapter partnership, and better leverage the role of chapter leaders and volunteers in providing value to members. In addition, we will establish a short-term and long-term action plan for reducing administrative and business burden of chapters.

In our role as a Trusted Partner, ACHE will commit to deepening engagement with members and the healthcare community through education, networking and career services to inspire and cultivate leaders to advance health. In doing so, ACHE will accelerate the use of technology to proactively meet the challenges of a rapidly changing environment and create unparalleled digital experiences for leaders. This will be a multi-year journey, and our success requires leveraging experts with proven track records.

Additionally, we will work to accelerate the adoption of FACHE®, board certification in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, as the gold standard for leading.

Next Meeting Planned
The next meeting of the Board of Governors is scheduled for Dec. 5–6. Highlights of that meeting will be published in a future issue of Healthcare Executive
